Our Minister
The Reverend David F. Peters
David Peters has been serving the Roxbury Congregational Church as its' Minister since November 22, 1986.
A native of Wallingford, Connecticut, Mr. Peters received his B.S. from Central Connecticut State College and an MDiv. (Masters of Divinity) degree from the Andover Newton Theological School in Newton Centre (Boston), Massachusetts. Prior to being called to his present position, David had served at churches in Danbury, CT, Waltham, MA, and Glastonbury, CT.
David was named as one of the "Top 50 Most Influential People in Litchfield County" by Litchfield Magazine. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Ct Conference of the United Church of Christ, as a member of the Board of Directors for the United Church Board for World Ministries and as a staff member at the Silver Lake Conference Center. He is active in the community, serving on several boards and committees including the Roxbury Sr. Housing Board, a Director of the Roxbury Housing Trust, and as a CT-certified Emergency Medical Technician, serving as a crew member with Roxbury Ambulance. In 2022, David was honored with the Silver Lake Award which "recognizes someone whose life has been visibly shaped by the core values of Silver Lake Camp & Retreat Center and who, in turn, live their life and faith in a way that reflects the formative experiences they had at Silver lake."
He is married to Susan Zappulla-Peters, a pastry chef and native of Torrington, and they have two children, Kyla, a graduate of Quinnipiac University with a degree in health sciences, living in CA, and Kirby, who has a degree in Agriculture from Cornell and now has returned to Roxbury to lease and run Maple Bank Farm. David's interests include railroads, and being a handyman. He loves a challenge to fix something around the house! In November 2022, Susan and David welcomed their first grandchild, Archer.
On his days off during the tourist season, David works as a train conductor on the Essex Steam Train and Riverboat in Essex, CT as he grew up in a railroad family and has a life-long passion for trains.

Our Minister of Music
Sandy has been the Minister of Music at the Church since 1998.
A native of Wallingford, CT, has a BA from Western Connecticut State College and she is currently the music educator at the Botelle Elementary School in Norfolk, CT as well as the Fine Line Theatre in New Milford. She also gives private music lessons. Sandy has two adult children, Elizabeth and Alexander. She lives in New Preston.
Our Church Secretary
Luanne Awlasewicz
Luanne joined our staff as Church Secretary in October of 2022. She is married to Tom and lives in Roxbury with their son, Cooper. She has previous experience working at a Danbury accounting firm and she loves animals.
Our Church Custodian
Bruce Rossiter
Bruce grew up in this church, now works for FedEx, and lives in New Milford, with his wife, Nan, an author and artist. They have two sons: Cole and Noah.
He works to have our church clean and welcoming for all who come and it shows!
